Beliefs Part 3 – You Are Not Alone with Lauren Swenson

Do you need to be reminded that you are not alone? This week I’m pleased to introduce you to my dear friend, Lauren Swenson. Lauren and I have been friends for decades and walked through the many seasons of jobs, children, crises, and celebrations that make up the fabric of our lives. We’ve seen each other in our highs and lows and talked through so many matters of the heart. And what I’ve always appreciated about her is her loyalty, wisdom, and faithfulness. So, I thought she would be great to join my series on Beliefs.

True to my promise, I’m only bringing you people who I have worked with, walked with, and admired in their beliefs. I think you’re going to enjoy her authenticity and openness.

Together, Lauren and I look back and share insights we’ve learned along the way and how our beliefs have impacted our responses to life. We agree that we are not made to bear life alone…or even celebrate alone. (She’s got a great laugh). It is more bearable and enjoyable “doing life” together. Thus, our title, You Are Not Alone. We talk about what this means and how we have learned to reach out for support–whether it’s cheers, cries, or cringes–knowing we can say what needs to be said. More importantly, when plot twists in life come at us unexpectedly, it is our beliefs anchored in our faith that help us navigate challenging times.

Join us in the conversation and may you luxuriate in the transparency that reminds us we are not alone.

About Lauren:

Lauren Swenson began a blog in 2016 when she realized that family and friends had big feelings about their family of five moving from the United States to East Africa. Though the vision was well understood— an entrepreneurial venture aimed at igniting Kenya’s developing fitness industry with excellent coaching, professional development, and business opportunities— fear of the unknown seemed to be fraying connection. Lauren decided to chronicle her personal journey while living abroad in hopes that it would somehow draw together the vastly different parts of her world, demystifying the “unknown” and encouraging others to embrace the complexity and beauty of choosing a courageous life led by faith. Lauren returned to the US in 2023 and currently lives in California where she continues to foster the togetherness, teachability, tenacity and transformation that are her passion.
