Getting Clarity with Good Guides

Do you believe you have a purpose in life? Do you know that if you don’t live your purpose there will be a missing piece the size of you in this world? I hope you do because I believe that about you, and I believe this about me. That’s why getting clarity around your purpose is so important. Good Guides are critical in the process. They help us get clarity about our purpose when it feels fuzzy, frustrating, vulnerable, and unsure.

Good guidance is about resonating with you. It can also make you uncomfortable. But we all instinctively know the discomfort that comes from needed growth. Growth doesn’t happen until we get uncomfortable. Right?

After talking with my guests on this series, I am drawing on their collective wisdom to identify Good Guides.

I know this is a robust list, but you’re worth it. Keep the standard high because getting clarity around your purpose is critical. And most importantly, this is the type of guide you want to be to others.

So, what if a guide isn’t working out?

Remember you’re always in the driver’s seat for your life, and you get to stay in charge of the direction. Communicate it in any way that is most comfortable for you— face-to-face, email, text, or letter— and tell them the good you got out of the relationship, but your desire to pause or be done is what you need. Then notice how they respond to your “no” because this gives insight into the person and whether future opportunities are feasible. You’re looking for gracious understanding and help in exiting the relationship.

So, if you’re overly tired of change, feel fuzzy about options, lack clarity around what you want, frustrated with direction, or generally feel stuck, I encourage you to find your guides. Don’t give up. Sometimes you have to pay for it. But it doesn’t have to be forever. You can focus on what you need in that season. Be honest and tell them. A Good Guide will get it and be eager to meet you where you are.

Ultimately, it’s about being clear on your value and worth. Because everyone is made for a life only they can live. Good Guides can help you draw it out more efficiently and more powerfully.

Cheering you on!

P.S. I wrote The Life You’re Made For to serve as a guidebook for getting clarity, confidence, and courage. If you really want to take it to the next level, I have a Coaching Companion along with an e-course that is helping people change their mindsets and their lives in powerful ways. Check it out, follow the pacing of the course and give yourself the time you need to digest it. I made it to be paced out over several months. And what’s a couple months to change the trajectory of your life?
