Dear Friends,
It has been an unusual week. From a trip to the ER with my husband who injured his back to visiting a friend with cancer and sitting with her in the raw ache of it all, I am reminded of the fragility of life. And when life doesn’t work out the way we had hoped, now what? Having a front-row seat, I listened to the questions they were asking – what do I need to learn from this? What is the growth that will come from this physical pain? Will it ever get better? How did I take my health for granted?
Sacred ground.
When our bodies make us slow down–whether we want to or not–we reach out. For comfort, reassurance, and a listening ear that offers compassion and empathy. We turn to those we care for the most. And being called upon this week, I felt the honor of being able to care for those you love and sit with them in their pain.
I am realizing that everything ultimately comes down to relationships. And when the chips are down, this is what matters.
